About the Transportation Department:
The Transportation Department’s mission is to facilitate safe, and secure commercial transportation on public highways, railroads, and transportation facilities, as well as to promote quality and equitable service in a proactive manner for the public and commercial carriers in the household goods, bus, and ferry boat industries. This is accomplished through reduction and prevention of crashes involving commercial motor vehicles, reduction and prevention of hazardous materials incidents, development of consumer protection regulations, and resolution of consumer and carrier complaints.
What You'll Do:
This position as a Project Manager 1 for the Transportation Director's Office includes but is not limited to the following:
Under direction from the Director, leads the Transportation Department's project management function for various projects
As needed, develop and/or oversee the development of project plans and schedules
Organizes and directs staff assigned to Transportation projects and coordinates project implementation plans
Partner with departmental leadership and other key stakeholders to define project opportunities and to identify and prioritize projects
Plans, organize, monitor, and oversee project utilize cross-functional and/or cross-departmental teams to deliver defined requirements and meet strategic objectives
Defines quality standard, timelines, and specific activities to be performed to produce project deliverables
Evaluates deliverables and ensures project is ready to move on to its next phase
Assist the department in administering goals and objectives
Provides administrative directions to staff in director's absence
Maintains and monitors departmental budget
Coordinates with the Director's office, Finance Services, and external entities for training, workshops, seminars, any out-of-state travel, and tracks all approved future and actual expenses
3 yrs. exp. in project management (i.e., management & development of project/program requirements, design, development, testing/pilot, training & full scale implementation), with experience to be commensurate with project/program &/or position description on file (e.g., specific human service program area, management information sciences, fiscal); 12 mos. exp. in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program/projects.
-Or successful completion of 2 yrs. post-secondary education majoring in business administration, public administration, computer science/information technology, social science, or health, with major being commensurate with project to be assigned; 12 mos. exp. in budgeting & calculating cost projections of program/projects.
-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
