The Educator/Auditor, Revenue Cycle, is responsible for communicating all aspects of education requirements for (2) lines of service of the Revenue Cycle: Patient Access/Registration and Patient Financial Services/Central Business Office.
Reports to: Director of Patient Access Services and/or Director of Patient Financial Services
Job Specific Responsibilities
Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:
• Prepare written education and curriculum for specific Revenue Cycle departments.
• Organize, update, and maintain all basic training education for Patient Access/Registration and Central Business Office Staff and keep abreast of regulatory changes to be able to incorporate into established curriculum.
• Serves as instructor for required training classes conducted onsite and any training courses virtually.
• Organize and coordinate monthly education newsletters and includes, but is not limited to yearly calendar planning, room reservations, and calendar invites for new hires & their start dates prior to assuming their role in their assigned department.
• Serve as the owner of the “Trust yet Verify” audit document that holds staff accountable for the duties of each position. Duties include monthly and yearly recertification of competencies.
• Ensure all employees stay compliant with PE and EOC rounding and any other UMC required in services from I.T, employee health and/or compliance.
• Perform all UMC required Leadership duties, which include conflict resolution, coaching, education, and weekly staff huddles.
• Serve as an extension for supervisors in their absence and participate in on call rotation as required.
• All other assigned duties related to Revenue Cycle functions.
Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED required, bachelor’s degree preferred
• +6 months prior training experience in Patient Access and/or Patient Financial Services role.
• +1 year of experience leading people and/or processes
• +1 year of training, education or audit experience
• +1 year of Epic experience preferred
Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations
• Texas Driver’s license and the ability to be a rider on UMC insurance.
Skills and Abilities
• Excellent communicator, skilled in written and verbal communications.
• Ability to map out workflows and identify areas where efficiencies are needed.
• Strong presentation skills and experience in public speaking and in classroom settings.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to solve problems and exercise independent judgement.
• Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.
• Must have the ability to prepare and present education sessions and other topics to small and large groups.
• Must have the ability to attend and communicate in interdepartmental meetings.
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
This position will interact closely with the I.T. leadership and staff as well as other ancillary areas to facilitate a multidisciplinary approach to Revenue Cycle education, roles and responsibilities of PAS & CBO operations.
Physical Capabilities
Work is of medium demand; walking, sitting, and standing most of the time while on duty. Adequate hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills are required. Talking and hearing is essential in instructing and supervising personnel. Near visual acuity requires work with charts, records, and to create and present written and visual materials.
Environmental Working Conditions
This position is subject to indoor environmental temperatures. Works in a well-lighted, heated, and ventilated building. Hours may vary to accommodate the training needs in the department as prescribed by the philosophy of a 24/7/365 hospital.
