Do you have a passion for safety and security? Nationwide is looking for an experienced training professional to lead our Protective Services Training team. In this role, you'll develop and manage comprehensive training programs to ensure the safety of our associates, assets, and facilities.

Qualifications:

OPOTA certified instructor or the ability to obtain an OPOTA instructor under the qualification. CPP preferred.

Five or more years of training experience in law enforcement, military, or security management.

Strong knowledge of private security laws and executive security programs.

Excellent communication skills.

As Manager, Protective Services Training, you’ll lead a highly motivated team responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive training programs to ensure the safety and security of associates, assets, and facilities. You will proactively design, create, and consult with business partners to deliver high-quality training programs around security procedures, technologies, licensing where applicable, legal considerations, and training methodologies. You'll help integrate training as part of achieving performance excellence and accomplishing strategic goals.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Develops and helps deliver training and instructional plans that maximize resources to meet training needs for protective services officers, operation center officers, threat management team, and executive protection team.

Partners with regional Training and Technology Leads to consult on training curriculum needs, ensure training completion, and weapon management consistency.

Performs training log and other audits to ensure compliance with all training requirements, plans, and regulations.

Develops and coordinates an annual training plan by identifying risks, gaps, and compliance needs, covering Occupational Safety and Health (OSHA), armed security officer training (Private Security Firearms) and state and local regulations.

Assigns strategy aligned training projects and ensures product effectiveness.

Designs tools and models, and leads programs to optimize and automate training modules, methodologies, tracking and equipment repositories.

Researches best-practices and legal requirements to develop and scale training programs to exceed industry standards.

Partners with leaders to perform needs assessments, analyze performance gaps, and recommends alternative solutions. Tracks training development and recommends quality assurance measures.

Establishes and maintains strong partnerships with internal key stakeholders and external training resources.

Develops and manages annual training budgets to meet learning plans and training needs.

Manages various firearms certificate programs for protective services officers and the executive protection team.

Leads a team of associates, including performance management, salary planning, training and development, workflow planning, hiring, and disciplinary actions.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Director. Leads a team of training Specialists.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in business administration, psychology, criminal justice, security management, or other related areas preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and Private Investigator Security Guard Services (PISGS) Armed Officer certifications. Must have OPOTA Private Security Firearms Instructor Certification or be able to obtain this certification within one year of employment.

Experience: Typically, five or more years demonstrated training experience in law enforcement, military, or security management.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Must be familiar with all laws governing private security as well as demonstrated knowledge of executive or high-profile security programs for life/safety and property protection. Must be familiar with Protective Services policies and procedures. Excellent communications skills with internal teams, executives, and external audiences.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resource Business Partner.

Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt)

Working Conditions: Must be able to work flexible office hours, to include weekends as needed. Must be able to successfully pass physical fitness requirements, pre-employment, and annual criminal background checks. May require 20%-30% travel.
