POSITION SUMMARY
Works under the direction of the Director of Utilities. Some training and direction will be provided by operators and skilled utility workers. Must be able to follow instructions and work independently. Performs a variety of work from manual labor to operation of light to moderate equipment in the maintenance and repair of city facilities such as water system, sewer system, storm water, streets, building, and ground maintenance.
**This position is a Summer Internship working months June - August**

Assists with maintenance and operations of water meters, valves, manholes
Locating and repairing broken water and sewer lines
Performs water meter maintenance and repair
Inspects and performs routine maintenance and repair on all equipment assigned
Performs inspections of grounds, facilities, park areas, vehicles
Documents work orders and records work activities
Clean and paint fire hydrants
Prune trees in ROW
Maintains site or equipment by providing basic repairs and cleaning
Investigates utility service complaints and researches issues
Investigates and troubleshoots meter issues for tampering or other technical problems
Communicates with the residents to assure that work orders are complete
Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 16 years of age
Parent or legal guardian must provide written authorization to begin working if under the age of 18
