GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Janitor is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for North Bend City Hall, Wastewater Treatment Plant, Visitor Information Center, Streets Department, and the North Bend Community Center. This role involves performing a variety of cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure the premises are presentable and functional for employees, visitors, and citizens.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
This employee receives general supervision from the Parks and Facilities Manager.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
Supervision of other employees is not a typical responsibility of this position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Each facility will have a personalized Scope of Work that outlines essential duties and cleaning schedules. Listed below are the general essential functions for this position.
Cleaning and Maintenance:
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in all areas, including offices, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
Clean and sanitize restrooms, replenish supplies, and empty trash receptacles.
Dust and clean surfaces, windows, and mirrors regularly.
Remove litter and debris from indoor and outdoor areas, including parking lots and entryways.
Equipment and Supplies:
Operate cleaning equipment such as buffers, vacuums, and floor scrubbers.
Monitor and restock cleaning supplies and submit inventory requests as needed.
Perform basic equipment maintenance and report malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of chemicals and equipment.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
Identify and report hazards, damages, or repairs needed within the facility.
Specialized Tasks:
Set up and break down spaces for meetings, events, or activities as requested.
Assist with landscaping, or other seasonal tasks as needed.
Respond promptly to emergency cleaning or maintenance requests.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, & EXPERIENCE:
Education and experience requirements listed are minimum standards. Other equivalent education, certifications, training, and experience combinations may be considered.
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience as a janitor, custodian, or in a similar role.
Familiarity with cleaning supplies, tools, and equipment.
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.).
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Preferred:
Knowledge of OSHA cleaning standards and safety procedures.
Experience operating heavy-duty cleaning equipment.

WORK SCHEDULE:
This is a full-time position. Hours and days can range between 5:00 am and 12:00 am, Monday through Saturday.
