About the Role:
The City of La Marque is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Part-Time Permit Clerk to join our Development Services Department. This position plays a key role in supporting the permitting process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of permit applications, and providing excellent service to the public, contractors, and internal departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive, review, and process building permit applications
Enter and track permit data in the permitting software system
Verify documentation for completeness and compliance
Respond to public inquiries in person, by phone, and via email regarding permits, inspection scheduling, and zoning requirements
Coordinate with inspectors and other departments to support permit-related processes
Maintain organized files and records related to permits and inspections
Perform general clerical duties, including data entry, filing, and document scanning
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required
Prior clerical or customer service experience preferred; municipal or permitting experience a plus
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with the public and staff
Ability to learn and use permitting software systems
