Sr BSA - Teradata SQL - ETL/SAS/Python - Oracle - BI/Snowflake

We have a 6 month contract to hire position for a Sr Business Systems Analyst in California with 5+ years of experience in Teradata SQL, SAS, Oracle, Snowflake and utilities like Fastload, Multiload, Fast Export and BTEQ Script (or similar utilities). 100% Remote.

Must Haves:

Experience in design of Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, and Teradata architecture. This includes data modeling, database Management, and data mining.

Strong proficiency in SQL Server, Teradata, stored procedures, and query performance tuning to handle large data sets efficiently.

Experience in code deployment or scheduling tools (e.g., SQL Agent or Control-M) to manage ETL workflows effectively. Best vs. Average:

Strong analytics SQL Skills (eg Create Table, Performance Tuning, Stored Procedures, etc.) to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Process Automation to load/extract data from various sources.

Knowledge of scheduling tools (e.g., SQL Agent or Control-M) to manage ETL workflows effectively.

If applicable, implement enhancement/changes 1x per month

Ability to create technical and business process workflow diagrams. Best -

Experience with BI design in Snowflake.

Day to Day responsibilities:

BI Foundation Tables is source-of-truth for the team's analytics and this role requires someone to assess team needs on the BI Foundation Tables and decide on how to best support the needs. The needs include table schema design and best practice field naming convention.

Responsible for code deployment and ETL implementation.

Drive Table architect design and best practice.

Monitor and report any data source discrepancy to internal team and Corp IT.

Assist in writing complex SQLs and performance tunings of current-state in Teradata SQL, future-state in Snowflake.

Review Change Request or New Request to BI Foundation Tables and determine design, develop, and enhancement to dept BI Foundation tables.

Timely releases/publication of enhancement to BI Foundation Table.

Monitor bi-weekly ETL jobs, troubleshoot failures, and ensure BI Foundation tables are refreshed accordingly.

Email Notification of changes and releases to the team.

Diagnose and Identify problems (performance, data discrepancy) and resolve issue within 24-48 hours.

Partner with IT Dept and/or Dept Team to review/enhance data pipelines and reporting effectiveness.

Participation in dept bi-weekly BI Foundation Touchbase meeting to review outstanding requests.

Report, track, and monitor bugs and enhancement of EDW data quality.

About this role:

Business Justification: This Senior Business Systems Analyst position is needed to create, support, and maintain PPA's dept existing and new future back-end source data that plays a critical part to various programs and analytics reports that the dept support.

The backend data source makes it easy for PPA's inner-dept programs to easily identify members and claims that contribute to programs like:

Direct pay programs (e.g., Prop 56, GEMT, HYDE, FAMP, PHYS, DSH, PHDP) that account for $450M+ of provider/hospital payments funded by DHCS,

Risk Adjustment program for ACA ASM and MA ASM encounter submission that contribute to HNET Revenue of $4.01M and $28M+ respectively in BY2023,

identification of MCAL CDPS+RX Rejection Correction to PPG submitter, that contribute to $9.2M to HNET's revenue in BY2023,

and other analytical reports like MER Pro (Monthly Encounter Report), AWV Power BI Dashboard, and MWOV Power BI dashboard that are dependent by other CA Market Team to support their dept operation.
