Overview
Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for an IT Linux System Administrator to support the United States Air Force Test Operation Sustainment Contract (TOS II), at the Hypervelocity Wind Tunnel 9 in White Oak, Maryland. The System Administrator will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible for supporting and maintaining a multi-operating system environment vital to hypersonic ground testing. The ideal candidate will possess a broad spectrum of experience relevant to system configuration, deployment, installation, and maintenance.

Job Summary
Manage and maintain Linux systems, overseeing their administration, operation, and enhancement.
Job Duties: Oversee and manage all network resources supporting site facility operations, to include:
Administering, supporting, configuring, installing, and troubleshooting IT hardware and software.
Analyzing staff and customers' needs to identify opportunities for enhancing network capabilities and implementing new services. Develop and propose solutions, including budgets and schedules, for hardware and software upgrades.
Proactively collaborating with team members to identify and address potential network shortfalls before they impact facility testing operations.
Working with the Information Assurance Manager to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
Provide technical support for Red Hat Linux and Windows-based workstations and servers, printers, and other peripheral equipment essential to facility operations. This support encompasses:
Administering, configuring, installing, and troubleshooting basic system, desktop, and server issues.
Managing, upgrading, and enhancing server and workstation storage to meet current and future needs.
Maintaining and managing system backup applications and processes.
Configuring, monitoring, and managing system security.
Supporting, maintaining, repairing, and installing workstations, servers, peripherals, and software applications related to wind tunnel operations (mentioning the wind tunnel adds specificity and clarity).
Supporting virtualized environments (e.g., VMware and KVM).
Managing hardware and software maintenance and licensing contracts.
Collaborate with the ISSM and Information Assurance Manager to ensure compliance with information assurance regulations mandated by the DAFMAN.
Maintain comprehensive documentation, evaluation, and consistent compliance with cybersecurity requirements for all government IT systems and their components.
It is a condition of employment to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with company safety policy and OSHA compliance.
Perform other non-IT related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
B.S. in an IT-related field with 5-10 years of progressively relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with networking topologies, hardware, and cabling.
Experience with Linux and Windows hardware and systems, including:
Installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Linux and Windows operating systems.
Configuration and application of security policies and templates for system hardening.
Configuration, monitoring, and tuning of server applications and performance.
Storage management and services, including RAID, LVM, and NFS.
Scripting environments and shell scripts
Ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ certification.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to the AEDC local area network.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
Active Secret clearance
Experience installing, configuring, troubleshooting, repairing, specifying, and upgrading network and computer hardware (Windows 11, RHEL)
Scripting experience (e.g., Perl, PHP, JavaScript, Bash)
Firewall hardware/software experience (rule generation/implementation, hardware definition/configuration)
Experience with network switches, routers, and other networking devices
Experience with legacy software (e.g., Apache, Tomcat), Linux NIS, Windows LDAP, and TCP/IP
Experience with HPE switches, routers, servers, and SAN technology
Project management experience (multi-faceted projects, requirements definition)
