Job Title: Project Engineer – Food Manufacturing
Location: Naperville, IL
Summary
Take the lead on capital projects and process system improvements at a growing food manufacturing facility in Naperville, IL. As a Project Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, executing, and optimizing critical engineering initiatives focused on efficiency, safety, and long-term scalability. This is a hands-on technical role where you’ll coordinate across contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure successful implementation of facility upgrades and system changes.

Compensation & Benefits:
Salary range: $120,000–$150,000 + bonus potential

Lead engineering scope development for process projects including P&IDs, equipment sizing, and utility planning
Manage equipment selection, installation, and commissioning in coordination with external vendors and contractors
Deliver capital projects on time and on budget, maintaining compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements
Provide subject matter expertise in food manufacturing processes, working alongside production, maintenance, and QA teams
Partner with maintenance to support asset care strategies and long-term equipment reliability
Maintain accurate documentation and support change control, validations, and audits
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities in process design and system integrationRequirements
BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or related discipline) required
7+ years of experience in process or project engineering within a food manufacturing or regulated production environment
Strong background in developing process documentation (P&IDs, flow diagrams), equipment specs, and layout planning
Experience managing capital projects from design through commissioning
Familiarity with food safety standards, GMPs, and sanitary design requirements
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP; knowledge of PLC/controls systems (Allen-Bradley) preferred
Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills
