The Position:
Summit Steel Works is looking to hire an Estimator to join our Estimating Department. Reporting to the Chief Estimator, this individual will support the preparation of bid proposals for construction projects.
Responsibilities:
Review "for bid" construction plans and identify steel scopes.
Develop steel scope list and confirm bid scope with client.
Prepare material take-offs and request material quotes from vendors.
Identify missing information, unclear details, and constructability issues; submit pre-bid RFIs to clients.
Perform document control for all bid documentation. Qualifications:
Self-motivated, hardworking, and good-natured.
Well-spoken with strong writing skills.
Detail-oriented and meticulous.
1+ years of construction industry experience required.
Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.
Relevant technical degree preferred.
Experience with Bluebeam or similar take-off software preferred.
In-office training preferred; hybrid WFH setup available (full WFH negotiable).
Salary + Benefits:
Salary range: $80K-$120K, commensurate with experience.
