Offshore crew

Offshore rank generally mirror those in the merchant navy and are used on various offshore installations like drill ships and platforms. They indicate a clear hierarchy across departments such as Deck (Navigation), Engineering, and Operations. Examples include Captain/Master (highest authority), Chief Mate, Second/Third Officers, Chief Engineer, Second/Third/Fourth Engineers, and various ratings like Bosun, Able Seaman, and Ordinary Seaman in the deck department, and Motorman, Fitter, and Wiper in the engine department. Specific offshore roles like Barge Master, Ballast Controlman, and Dynamic Positioning Operator (DPO) also exist.
