Cloud303 is expanding our database services team and were looking for a skilled Senior Database Architect to lead customer projects including design and migration of YugabyteDB and PostgreSQL environments in AWS. The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing, managing and migrating distributed databases including Oracle and other RDBMS sources, performance tuning, high availability and cloud implementations.
Since this is a customer-facing engineering role, the candidate must also be a procient communicator that enjoys collaborating and leading projects in customer environments.
Responsibilities:
Lead project scoping and technical execution of project efforts with customers.
Install, congure, and maintain YugabyteDB clusters and PostgreSQL instances in AWS.
Migrate enterprise databases from Oracle and other relational database management systems into YugabyteDB and PostgreSQL.
Assist customers with database performance monitoring, query optimization and tuning.
Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and fault tolerance of YugabyteDB and PostgreSQL instances.
Implement replication, sharding and partitioning strategies for scalability.
Troubleshoot database issues, resolve incidents and conduct root cause analysis.
Collaborate with developers to optimize SQL queries and database schemas.
Automate administrative tasks using Cloudformation, Terraform and shell scripts.
Manage backups, restores, and upgrades for YugabyteDB and PostgreSQL.
Implement security best practices, including encryption and access control.
Stay updated on new features and best practices in YugabyteDB and PostgreSQL.
Mentoring/knowledge sharing with other engineers.
Required Skills & Experience:
3-5 years (mid-level) / 6+ years (senior) of DBA experience with expertise in YugabyteDB or PostgreSQL.
Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL internals.
Experience with AWS services including RDS, EKS, ECS and base infrastructure design
Hands-on experience with load balancing, failover and disaster recovery strategies.
Prociency in SQL tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools is a plus.
Knowledge of NoSQL, Cassandra or other distributed databases is a plus.
Procient communicator that enjoys collaborating and leading projects in customer environments.
Qualications:
YugabyteDB, PostgreSQL and AWS certications.
Experience in high-trac, mission-critical production environments.
Additionally:
US Citizenship and/or have authorization to work in the United States.
Able to commute to our Denver, CO office location. This is a hybrid work position.
