POSITION SUMMARY:
As an Engineering Director, you will lead the execution of intricate manufacturing projects from inception to completion while aligning with the company's strategic goals. You'll collaborate with the engineering team to enhance value streams and work closely with operations and technical experts to tackle the most demanding internal projects at Novipax. This role provides the creative freedom to devise innovative solutions that improve processes and capabilities across the entire organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure adherence to corporate and plant safety protocols.
Oversee quality control and assurance compliance with established standards and specifications.
Identify and champion capital projects aimed at boosting efficiency and addressing plant capacity challenges.
Manage capital project execution, including project scope development, machinery specifications, coordination of external resources, scheduling for minimal operational disruption, and ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
Apply process control methodologies to address issues and enhance process capabilities.
Create and implement corrective action plans, working collaboratively with site personnel.
Stay informed on industry trends that contribute to improvements in product quality, consistency, efficiency, and cost reduction initiatives.
Collaborate with plant locations to establish process specifications, which encompass machinery set-ups, operational conditions, tolerances, and procedural guidelines based on customer requirements.
Work in tandem with the Continuous Improvement team focusing on cost reduction, scrap reduction, and capacity enhancement.
Assist in drafting major capital expenditure requests for operational improvements, efficiency boosts, quality enhancements, or new technology implementation.
Facilitate the effective rollout of investment projects approved for capacity or facility enhancements.
Develop plans to achieve all performance indicator targets and goals.
Liaise with departments like sales/marketing, engineering, and clients to thoroughly understand and fulfill their needs, conducting regular meetings to clarify and ensure timely compliance with specific requirements.
EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in similar processes.
5 - 7 years of experience in Process, Maintenance, or Operations roles within a manufacturing setting preferred.
Project management experience preferred; must demonstrate leadership, teamwork, creativity, and innovation.
Experience with PLC programming is a significant advantage.
Self-driven with robust written and verbal communication skills; capable of preparing and delivering technical documentation and presentations effectively.
Able to lead and thrive in a team environment while communicating effectively across different organizational levels.
Familiarity with automated packaging equipment, Lean, and Preventive Maintenance systems preferred.
Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, and team development.
Strategic thinker, capable of converting strategy into actionable plans.
Proficient problem-solver, able to work under deadlines individually or collaboratively as part of a team.
Competent with MS Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Willingness to travel as necessary, estimated at fifty (50%) percent of the time.
