AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS's global infrastructure. We keep the cloud running by supporting all AWS data centers and their critical components, ensuring our customers have uninterrupted access to innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary escalation point for facilities-related issues and oversee routine and emergency operations for critical systems, including switchgear, generators, UPS, power distribution equipment, and cooling systems.

Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures and ensure troubleshooting within Service Level Agreements (SLA).

Train and mentor Engineering Operations Technicians while collaborating with the Facility Manager to cultivate team culture.

Develop and implement new standard practices for Engineering Operations and vendor support teams.

Assist with the construction of new facilities and projects to enhance current efficiency.

Be available for routine maintenance and emergency calls outside regular business hours.

Communicate complex technical information clearly to non-technical audiences.

Work with IT managers and business leaders to optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, and efficiency.

Ensure compliance with safety procedures by both vendor and Amazon staff.

Establish performance benchmarks, analyze facility operations, and prepare maintenance reports.

Utilize administrative tools like Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook for daily tasks.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift/move up to 39 pounds independently and participate in group lifts for 40+ pounds.

Capability to work at heights and perform tasks on ladders.

Regular physical activity, including walking, using hands, and postural tasks.

Work in environments requiring hearing protection.

A Day in the Life:

In this role, you will be at the forefront of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting in hands-on situations. You will manage, operate, and troubleshoot mission-critical data center facility equipment to maintain better than 99.999% uptime. This includes diesel generators, 3-phase electrical systems, cooling towers, water systems, and fire/life safety equipment.

Your role will include directing and supporting technicians, managing projects from conception to completion, and collaborating with external teams such as engineering and finance. You will be tasked with setting milestones, tracking costs, and documenting project outcomes.

Basic Qualifications:

Technical training or relevant degree (e.g. electrical, mechanical).

3+ years of electrical or mechanical experience.

3+ years of experience in data center or mission-critical facilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

4+ years of Data Center Engineering experience.

Associate or Bachelor's Degree.

Experience in team leadership.
