Job Summary

The Solution Architect (SA) evaluates all business and technical requirements considering the overall enterprise architecture to design technology solutions. The role serves as an ambassador to business and technology stakeholders and interprets business needs while applying analytical skills to design, describe and manage a solution to fruition. The SA is not only in charge of finding answers and solutions to problems, but also of actively leading the technical vision to success. The SA role works closely with project managers, ensuring that all parties, including stakeholders, are on the same page and moving in the right direction at all stages of a project.

Responsibilities

Interprets business needs and applies innovative technology and business process solutions

Develops design artifacts (technical/functional specifications, architectural diagrams, etc.) at required level of detail to support high-level solution development and testing

Understands how the different elements of business, information and technology can be applied to solve a specific problem

Describes the structure, characteristics, behavior and other aspects of the software solution to project stakeholders

Upon completing a solution design for an existing problem, works closely with the project managers to manage the technical tasks and activities that are involved with its successful implementation

Works effectively in a matrix organization with teams of architects, developers, testers, infrastructure engineers and business partners with minimal supervision

Expresses ideas verbally and in writing to effectively communicate with and influence teammates, technology partners, business leaders and executives

Provides strategic and tactical architecture direction to development/delivery teams aligning to enterprise strategic plans, annual goals and technology roadmaps

Prepares materials for Enterprise Architecture reviews that demonstrate the alignment of the software delivery to enterprise practices and roadmaps

Provides industry, technology and market expertise and thought leadership to support and guide business decisions around strategic investments in technology solutions

Assists IT leadership team in defining vision, strategy, and principles for future technology platforms

Assists Quality Assurance team in design and implementation of test automation practices and harnesses

Understands how technology is, or will be used, and implication on people, processes, products and technology

Leverages technical expertise of peers and external resources as needed to ensure high-quality, effective solutions are delivered

Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion and makes proactive recommendations to IT leadership to implement necessary changes Anticipated Starting Salary: $108,000 - $115,000 (Exact starting salary will be based on experience)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science or STEM related field required

Four year's experience as a technical architect or solution architect utilizing Microsoft platform technologies in the areas of enterprise-level technology strategy, solution architecture, and integration architecture required

Minimum eight years general IT experience required with at least three years as an application developer preferred

Experience managing relationships, coalitions and communications with senior business and technology leaders to influence desired outcomes without direct authority required

Experience in complete life cycle of design, development and implementation of software projects using agile frameworks required

Proven success driving business technology strategies that lead to desired outcomes

Ability to understand how to navigate a complex organization, understand the big picture, and interface with external teams to leverage technology in alignment with our strategies

Ability to estimate the financial impact of technical architecture alternatives

Experience in presenting and demonstrating solutions to business and technology teams

Experience delivering formal designs to teams of developers

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment

Ability to work independently

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to manage data and metadata migration

Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
