Chief Building Engineer

Location: Phoenix, AZ 85054

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

Compensation: $43 - $46 per hour + Benefits + 10% Bonus (Performance-based)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Building Engineer to oversee the engineering operations of a premier Class A commercial facility located in Phoenix, AZ. This flagship location operates in a fast-paced, high-profile corporate environment. As the Chief Building Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and maintenance professionals, ensuring the optimal performance, maintenance, and safety of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of engineers and maintenance technicians, ensuring the efficient operation and safety of all building systems.

Oversee the maintenance, repair, and continuous operation of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety systems, and all other building infrastructure.

Ensure all building systems comply with local codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.

Develop, manage, and maintain preventive maintenance schedules and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Collaborate closely with facility leadership to align engineering operations with broader facility and business goals.

Manage work orders, budgets, schedules, and staffing plans to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of tasks.

Respond promptly to emergencies and critical system issues, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, compliance records, and system performance.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 5 years of experience in building operations or facilities management, with at least 2 years in a lead or chief engineer role.

Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety systems.

Proven leadership skills, including experience managing engineering teams.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments and with external vendors.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively under pressure in a high-profile, client-facing environment.

Relevant trade certifications or licenses (e.g., HVAC, electrical, or stationary engineer license) are highly desirable.

Experience managing building automation systems (BAS) .

Compensation:

Pay range: $43 – $46 per hour (depending on experience)
