The Field Applications Engineer will be responsible for bringing a broad range of general construction, residential PV, roofing and engineering skillsets and experiences as a part of the Solar Engineering Design organization. They will be joining a dynamic and innovative team environment to advise on best practices as they relate to PV construction and deployment. The successful candidate will be able to work within a collaborative team environment including Product Development, Technical Operations, Manufacturing Engineers, Operations, Training, Technical Publications, Supply Chain, Safety, Design and Sales to help solve complex problems and make recommendations. They will also be the driver of innovations through creative cost competitive solutions that maintain compliance with roofing industry's accepted methods and best practices.
In addition, the engineer will collaborate with their peers to prioritize, set- up, and perform tests, translating their findings into actionable insights for the design engineering team to consider. They will have the opportunity to bring new field-based product ideas and proposals to Tesla's product development team for consideration.

Responsibilities
Coordinate with teams to prioritize, design, and perform tests, delivering findings, reports, and recommendations
Evaluate prototypes for fit, form, function, and real-world applications, ensuring compliance with safety and building standards
Identify and resolve installation, safety, and implementation issues with innovative solutions
Lead new product pilot field installations to validate designs and respond to immediate technical field issues
Design and deliver training programs for internal and external partners, including knowledge transfer across teams
Perform hands-on full-scale system builds of solar products and assist with beta/pilot installations
Act as the product installation expert, supporting documentation, manuals, and technical content creation Requirements
2+ years of rooftop PV installation experience, including residential retrofit, ground mount, commercial, and off-grid systems
1+ years of leadership and/or office-based experience, showcasing project coordination and team management
Strong critical thinking driven by first-principles design logic to address technical installation challenges
In-depth knowledge of general building construction, roofing systems, flashings, and various roof types
Proficient in general electrical systems and PV-specific electrical work for safe, efficient installations
Excellent oral and written communication paired with strong organizational skills for effective collaboration
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with willingness to travel up to 10% Compensation and Benefits

$76,000 - $150,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
