Overview:
We’re looking for an experienced AutoCAD Detailer/Drafter with a background in trade show exhibits or retail displays, who also brings strong project management and estimating skills to the table. This is a hands-on, multi-functional role that’s perfect for someone who thrives in a creative, deadline-driven environment and understands the nuances of custom fabrication.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings and shop drawings using AutoCAD for custom exhibits, environments, and display elements
Translate design concepts and renderings into build-ready drawings aligned with fabrication capabilities and client expectations
Collaborate with designers, project managers, and fabrication teams to ensure seamless execution from concept to installation
Lead or support project management functions, including client communication, production timelines, and vendor coordination
Perform take-offs and develop accurate estimates for materials, labor, and subcontracted services for quoting and budgeting
Identify potential production challenges and provide proactive solutions during the detailing process
Maintain detailed documentation, revision control, and drawing standards throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications:
3+ years of AutoCAD drafting experience specific to trade show exhibits, branded environments, or custom displays
Solid understanding of fabrication methods, materials (wood, metal, acrylic, etc.), and installation logistics
Proven experience with project timelines, client interactions, and cross-functional collaboration
Strong estimating skills with an understanding of labor, materials, and vendor pricing
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, and design intent renderings
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset
Experience with industry-specific tools like SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or ERP/project management software is a plus
Bonus Points If You Have:
Hands-on experience working on the shop floor or in exhibit production
Knowledge of trade show regulations, venue guidelines, and installation processes
Familiarity with other drafting or 3D modeling software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks, Revit)
