THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Director of Product & Process Development to join our senior leadership team. In this key role, you will lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of chemists, technicians, and engineers. You’ll drive innovation from concept to commercialization, overseeing the formulation and scale-up of new chemical products and improving manufacturing processes to support our business growth strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead product formulation and process development efforts across all stages—from ideation to full scale manufacturing.

Manage a team of formulation chemists and process engineers to develop, test, and implement new and improved products.

Direct process improvement initiatives focusing on quality, yield, safety, and cost-efficiency.

Own and manage the New Product Request (NPR) workflow.

Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure timely and successful project execution.

Set priorities and ensure team alignment with business goals and production needs.

Serve as a strategic partner in company-wide capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Represent the department as a senior member of the leadership team, contributing to company strategy and direction.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or chemistry (advanced degree a plus).

15+ years of relevant experience in specialty chemical manufacturing.

5+ years in a supervisory or leadership role in a chemical or fertilizer manufacturing environment.

Strong technical background in chemical formulations, reactions, and batch processing.

Experience in agriculture and turf & ornamental nutrition products is highly desirable.

Demonstrated success in coaching and mentoring technical teams.

Deep understanding of process safety, change control, and root cause analysis.

Data-driven mindset with Six Sigma training preferred.

Strong communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to executives and customers.

Proven ability to work collaboratively across functions and locations.
