Job Description:
As an engineering technician, you will be part of our product development engineering team and work directly with other team members to build and test new diode laser modules, laser systems, and laser measurement products. This includes building and testing prototypes to finalize product designs, providing input to build processes, and supporting product transfers to our production team. Our group develops both platform and custom products for bioinstrumentation, material processing, microelectronics, and other areas that utilize lasers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Build, align, test, and troubleshoot prototype units and perform tests using procedures, prints, written instructions, or verbal communication.
Build, test, and troubleshoot Opto-Mechanical-Electro assemblies using procedures, prints and schematics, written instructions, or verbal communication.
Working with engineers, develop written test and assembly procedures and suggest improvements to these procedures.
Build prototype system assemblies to support testing and production transfer.
Understand and operate standard test equipment i.e. power supplies, oscilloscopes, function generators, lasers, laser power and energy meters, and beam profilers.
Generate accurate and clear test summaries and reports.
Requirements:
2-year Engineering Technology degree or equivalent, electronic or optical preferred.
5 years optical and electronic test experience in new product development environment.
Ability to read schematics and board layout drawings to identify component locations.
Strong PC Software skills including all MS Office products.
Knowledge of LabView, SolidWorks, Zemax, or Altium is a plus.
Working knowledge of laser safety.
Experience working in clean room environments.
