Ensure efficient and safe production by improving chemical processes and equipment and by leading/implementing operations department initiatives and programs
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
· Participate as production area technical representative for Hazops.
· Evaluate Hazop action item recommendations, determine optimal solution and implement required changes.
· Participate as member of production team to generate and evaluate process changes to improve efficiency and safety.
· Manage and implement process changes including mechanical installation, development of operating procedures, training and process safety documentation.
· Investigates and resolve quality non-conformance issues as required.
· Investigates safety/environmental incidents as required and implements corrective actions.
· Supervises others directly (contract engineers and construction contractors) or indirectly (operators and mechanics).
· Maintains safe mindset by using experience to train others on potential hazards and ensures efficient work by proper planning.
· Contributes to operational improvement and safety improvement by monitoring activities at the site and submitting ideas for projects, process improvements and safety improvements on an ongoing basis. Takes initiative to coordinate and implement these improvements.
· Serve as the manufacturing representative for capital projects.
· Work within the documented business management system, policies, procedures, etc. (ISO, & PSM).
· Manage production plan for designated area(s) in conjunction with inventory management and other factors such as ability of resources and maintenance activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Basic qualifications:
· B.S. Degree in technical field (engineering, sciences) with a minimum of 7 years of experience desired.
· Experience in training and guiding chemical operators with regards to implementing process changes.
· Experience in guiding maintenance mechanics and contractors with regards to installing mechanical changes to process systems
· Technical understanding of common chemical plant unit operations and equipment.
· Knowledge of Process Safety Management requirements and systems (Management of change, Hazop) desired
· Technical understanding of chemical engineering principles (liquid/vapor equilibrium, reaction kinetics, process control systems)
· Organizational/communication skills to develop priorities, determine optimal solutions and implement improvements in conjunction with production personnel
· Solid basic computer experience (Word, Excel)
Prefer:
· Bachlors Degree in Chemical engineering desired
· Experience with batch processing desired
· Experience with pyrophoric materials desired
Educational Requirements:
· B.S. in Engineering/ Sciences desired
