Job Title: Medical Technologist Generalist (Weekend Shift)

Department: Laboratory Services

Shift: Saturday, Sunday, Monday 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM

Location: Raleigh, NC

Employment Type: Full-Time / Weekend Shift

Salary Range: $27.00 – $36.00 per hour (based on experience and certifications)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Technologist Generalist to join our clinical laboratory team. This position will work independently and collaboratively across multiple lab disciplines including Hematology, Chemistry, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Immunohematology (Blood Bank), and limited Microbiology. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working the weekend shift with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform, analyze, and interpret a wide variety of laboratory tests in accordance with established protocols and quality standards.

Operate and maintain sophisticated laboratory instruments and analyzers.

Validate and report test results promptly and accurately using the Laboratory Information System (LIS).

Perform quality control procedures and participate in proficiency testing.

Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to regulatory guidelines (CLIA, CAP, TJC, OSHA).

Collaborate with medical and nursing staff to ensure timely and accurate diagnostic support.

Recognize and troubleshoot instrument and test discrepancies; escalate issues as needed.

Maintain supply inventory and ensure proper storage and handling of specimens and reagents.

Uphold all safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field required.

ASCP (or equivalent) certification as a Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) preferred.

Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting as a generalist preferred.

Proficient in laboratory instrumentation and LIS.

Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.
