Job Title: Utilities Supervisor
Food Safety Role & Responsibility:
The incumbent is specifically responsible for ensuring that:
Training requirements are defined for all positions related to food safety and quality within his/her area of responsibility.
Direct reports are trained to complete work assignments, evaluated for effectiveness and documented, and deemed competent to perform their jobs. When gaps are identified immediate corrective action must be taken. This includes retraining, coaching, and/or disciplinary actions - which must be documented.
Work assignments are communicated to associates.
Where the assistance of external experts is required for the development, implementation, operation or assessment of food safety within his/her area of responsibility, records of agreement or contracts defining the responsibility and authority of the external experts are maintained, as well as records of appropriate education, training, skills and experience.
New hire orientation is conducted, and a training matrix is developed for each area of responsibility.
All elements listed in PROC 6.2.2 are enforced- not only those outlined above.
As an individual, the incumbent must understand the Food Safety Statement, complete the required training, perform work assignments in accordance with training and display an acceptable level of competency with all Quality Assurance/Safety/Security policies and training requirements. Areas of food safety training will include, but are not limited to, GMP, HACCP, Food Safety and Quality Statement, FSSC 22000/Global Food Safety Policy/Food Safety Goals, Visitor/Food/Site Security, Emergency Preparedness, and Blood borne Pathogens.
The individual must also request additional and/or refresher training if he or she feels that it is needed to effectively perform requirements in specific areas of responsibility.
Summary:
Supervise, coordinate, delegate and perform skilled work maintaining and repairing utilities equipment and a variety of building maintenance assignments. Lead and direct the activities of the Facilities Mechanics (4 Building and Grounds Mechanics and 1 Assistant Supervisor) and Refrigeration Technicians (7 refrigeration technicians and 1 Assistant Supervisor).
Give 24/7 support for plant operations and for outside contractors when projects are scheduled.
This position supports the daily business to the factory by operating and maintaining crucial components of our processes to include water systems, industrial wastewater, comfort heating and cooling, electrical systems, lighting, building, grounds, gates, doors, automatic doors, ammonia refrigeration system, compressed air and nitrogen, hydraulic power system, and Fire System. At the same time managing cost to eliminate waste and increase profitability. Maintain the plant's safety, food safety, and quality programs.
Identify, create, and manage PM tasks, work orders, frequency of completion for all facility equipment
Job Function Statements - Essential Functions:
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position;
Compliance to SOP's, GMPs, housekeeping, Safety and all other FE policies;
Lead Facilities Mechanics, maintain and repair plant building, grounds and landscaping;
Supervise carpentry, electrical, paint, plumbing and mechanical maintenance and repair tasks;
Supervise concrete (pour, repair, floor repairs), tile (ceramic, Vinyl), drywall, thermo panels, windows and doors work;
Lead Facilities Mechanics, maintain and repair drains, toilets, urinal and sinks;
Lead Facilities mechanics in all hazardous materials disposal;
Basic electricity 120v-240v (switches, lights, light fixtures and outlets);
Lead Facilities Mechanics, maintain and repair forklifts;
Performing inspections and repairs on eyewash stations, fire extinguishers, ceiling, spill kits, foamers and hand wash areas;
Lead Facilities Mechanics, maintain and repair dock levelers, dock seals, docks shelters and overhead doors;
Lead Facilities mechanics in maintaining infrastructure needed to support Production and other departments;
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
2-3 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing, facilities, utilities or maintenance environment;
3-4 years supervisory experience with ammonia refrigeration system;
Mechanical skills and electrical troubleshooting;
Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects and materials;
Must work indoors in cold temperature environment and outdoors;
RETA Certification as an ammonia operating engineer a plus; solid working knowledge of ammonia refrigeration is a must.
Experience with MS Word, Outlook and Excel is a plus.
