Position Summary:nAirbus U.S.

is looking for an enthusiastic and creative Launch System Integration (LSI) Manager to drive launch solutions and operations for new satellite systems.

We're looking for candidates who can bring exceptional engineering skills and strong leadership in aerospace programs to the team.nPosition Responsibilities:nThe LSI Manager's primary responsibility will be building and leading the LSI team.

This team will be involved in the full lifecycle of development, from requirements definition, validation, verification, culminating in launch operations.

There is no shortage of fascinating problems to solve.nThe LSI Manager will provide autonomous solutions of complex problems, through direct work and delegation, under the leadership of the Systems Engineering Director.

The LSI Manager will have project and subject matter responsibility and authority.nLSI Leadership (50%)nnManage the definition and execution of launch integration activities for Airbus spacecraft platformsnGrow and manage the team of Mission Managers to execute individual launch campaigns and operations activities at launch sitesnLead the team to analyze, design, and/or develop launch interfaces and requirements, to include:nnLauncher selection and mechanical adaptationnElectrical interfaces and umbilical connectionsnSpace Vehicle separation systemsnLaunch site processing, including transportation and pre-launch testsnRange SafetynnnEnsure SV design requirements are consistent with Launch Vehicle and Range flow-downsnProvide inputs to proposals on launch engineering effort, launcher selection, and processing operations as requirednnRoadmap Development (30%)nnSupport Airbus U.S.

spacecraft product roadmaps, including design modifications, cost and schedule improvements, and future business capturenSurvey future launch options and flow down appropriate requirements for spacecraft developmentnnAdditional Responsibilities (20%)nnPerform all the necessary LSI activities to build, to maintain and to evolve the Airbus spacecraft productsnGrow and Develop LSI tools and processes for Airbus U.S.nManage team objective-setting, growth, and developmentnnnQualified Experience / Skills / Training: nEducation:nnBachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering, Math) or related scientific areas.nPreferred: Master's Degree in STEM (Science, Technical, Engineering, Math) or related scientific areas.nnExperience:nnA minimum of 15 years with a Bachelor's degree, or 12 years with a Master's degreenProven track-record of working with aerospace hardware or software systems, starting from conceptual designs and tradeoffs thru detailed design, development, manufacture, integration, test, deployment, and operations.nProven track-record of managing multi-disciplinary teamsnHistory of planning and managing spacecraft launch campaigns nnKnowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:nnFamiliarity with launch vehicle systems, such as Falcon9, Atlas, Electron, Soyuz, Ariane 5, etc.nFamiliarity with rideshare and multi-payload launch systems (ESPA class, cubesat launches, etc.)nFamiliarity with elements of space mission architectures– including launch, flight operations, mission CONOPS, user interfaces, etc.nCommunicate in a clear and concise manner effectively across multiple levels.nBe team-minded and ready to work in a multi-functional and multi-cultural, fast-moving and complex/technical environment.nFlexible attitude and strong initiative.nDemonstrated ability to deliver results.nnTravel Required:nnPeriodic travel (less than 20%) to Airbus U.S.

facilities or partner companiesnOccasional International travel to collaborate with European Airbus counterpartsnOccasional on-base support for launch campaignsnnEligibility:nnUS Citizenship is requirednnClearance:nnAbility to obtain and maintain a Government security clearancenActive DoD security clearance at Secret or above highly desirablennPhysical Requirements:nn Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents.n Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds including safety warnings or alarms.
