Lead CNC Machinist - Programmer & Operator
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Position Type: Direct Hire
Compensation: $40 - $55 per hour (Based on Experience)

Position Overview
Our client is seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist (Programmer & Operator) to join their team. This role is integral to the development and optimization of cutting-edge products, ensuring precision, reliability, and superior performance. The ideal candidate will possess advanced programming and machining expertise, with a strong ability to collaborate in a high-velocity product development environment.
Key Responsibilities
Precision Machining
Operate and maintain various machining equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC machines, to fabricate high-precision components according to specifications.
Perform rigorous inspections and measurements to ensure the accuracy and quality of machined parts, making necessary adjustments to maintain tight tolerances.
Select appropriate materials and tooling based on project requirements and constraints.
Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on machining equipment to optimize performance.
Programming and Design
Develop, refine, and optimize mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks, ensuring compliance with design standards and project specifications.
Interpret models and create fixtures for machined parts.
Program and operate 5-axis CNC machines and mill-turn systems using Mastercam software.
Adapt and enhance existing designs based on prototyping outcomes, ensuring compatibility with machining limitations.
Engineering Collaboration
Work closely with engineers and researchers to translate design concepts into functional prototypes and test fixtures.
Maintain comprehensive records of machining processes, materials, and equipment maintenance to support research and development efforts.
Collaborate with in-house machining and 3D printing teams to refine prototypes and ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs.
Assist mechanical engineers with generator and turbine component assembly.
Participate in hands-on assembly, installation, and maintenance of mechanical components and systems, ensuring practical application of designs.
Qualifications
5-10 years of CNC machining experience.
Extensive experience with Mastercam, specifically 5-axis programming and mill-turn programming.
Advanced design proficiency with SolidWorks.
Proven experience in prototyping, managing components from initial design to final implementation.
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles.
Prior experience in a rapid prototyping or high-velocity product development environment.
Demonstrated ability to translate designs into functional prototypes and finished products.
Strong collaborative skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines efficiently.
Preferred Skills & Experience
Multi-turret, B-axis head, and mill-turn machining experience.
Proficiency in CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation.
Experience with coatings and material treatments.
Familiarity with additional machinery such as sheet metal fabrication, robotics, and automation systems.
