Certified Peer Support Worker (Non-Exempt/Hourly position)

Families and Youth Innovation Plus is hiring full-time and part-time Certified Peer Support Worker

Applicants must be certified as CPSW (certified peer support workers) issued by the New Mexico Credentialing Board of Behavioral Health Professionals (NMCBBHP)

A Certified Peer Support Worker utilizes their lived experience with mental health, substance use, and/or trauma recovery to support others on their recovery journey. This role bridges the gap between clinical services and peer-based recovery support, working as part of an integrated healthcare team while maintaining the unique perspective of peer support.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one peer support services using personal recovery experience

Assist individuals in developing their own recovery goals and action recovery plans

Support individuals in identifying and accessing community resources

Document services provided in accordance with organizational requirements

Maintain appropriate boundaries while building trust-based relationships

Advocate for individuals within the healthcare system and community

Maintain confidentiality and understand mandatory reporting requirements

Practice ethical decision-making

Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Time management and reliability

Documentation and record-keeping abilities

Lived Experience & Recovery Knowledge

Have an understanding of recovery

Knowledge of person-centered planning

Ability to support self-determination and personal choice

Crisis prevention and management skills

Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must be certified as CPSW (certified peer support workers) issued by the New Mexico Credentialing Board of Behavioral Health Professionals (NMCBBHP)

Must be 18 years of age or older

Have a high school diploma or equivalent

Be identified as a current or former consumer of mental health or substance abuse services

Must have at least two years of mental health or substance abuse recovery

Must have an active driver's license and be in compliance with all New Mexico state vehicle requirements.
