Research Technician to assist and communicate with Principal Investigator (PI) in conducting research projects and experiments in the PI’s lab. The PI’s lab works on innovative research in applied radiation sciences, such as development and characterization of advanced X-ray targets and X-ray sources for various applications such as materials characterization, food irradiation, and other industrial, medical, and security applications. The Research Technician will support a range of experimental and technical activities related to X-ray target development and characterization. Responsibilities include: Assisting with in-house fabrication of advanced X-ray targets; Coordinating with various technical teams involved in the project; Characterizing X-ray targets using a custom-built X-ray source testing platform and external electron beam facility such as a medical linac; Developing methods for effective detection of both low- and high-energy X-rays; Assembling and testing X-ray detector systems; Performing data acquisition, integration, processing, and analysis for inclusion in technical reports and scientific publications; Preparing research progress updates and contributing to the development of publications, manuscripts, posters, and abstracts; Supporting and training laboratory members and students as needed; Managing and maintaining laboratory equipment and infrastructure; Handling administrative tasks such as coordinating lab meetings, organizing safety inspections, and ordering necessary materials and equipment, and; Performing other related duties as assigned.

Additional Information:

Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Material Science, or Equivalent)

Minimum Experience: 2-3 years of relevant experience in addition to degree (experience can include undergraduate or graduate research). Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge to research required. Ability

to work with other researchers and communicate clearly in a group setting.

Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen

The target hiring range for this job profile is $17.31 to $22.76/hr. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
