Position Summary:
The Support Specialist is responsible for supporting the School of Science which includes faculty, staff, research facilities and computer labs associated with the School of Science along with other areas.
Main Responsibilities:
Responsible for planning, development, implementation, management, maintenance and support of campus systems.
Responsible for researching, troubleshooting and resolving faculty and staff technological issues for all software and hardware in assigned areas.
Works independently to setup, configure and install hardware and software in departments.
Developing project budges, project timelines, represent TCNJ when working with vendors, development, monitor workflow automation, system configuration, implementation, administration.
Work independently with staff to identify technology needs, provide recommendations for life cycle replacement and work with Director of User Support Services to develop budgets and processes and plans for successful implementation.
Acts as liaison between the Information Technology department and the campus community with regard to computer technology issues, including training and one-on-one instruction with faculty, students and staff.
Keeps informed and up to date on new and emerging technologies to better serve campus needs. Research and plan for future development of systems and applications.
Researches solutions and advises assigned departments in the submission of technology budget requests. Responsible for ordering and installing approved budgeted items upon receipt.
Coordinates resources and provides expertise on technical, functional, and/or departmental topics during the development, integration, and implementation of new systems and applications.
Lead and participate in meetings, college events related to assigned responsibilities. Serve on standing and ad hoc committees as requested.
Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's Degree upon appointment or equivalent experience/education.
Analytical and technical problem solving skills.
General proficiency with software, hardware and operating systems.
Ability to multitask in a demanding environment.
Strong client-service orientation.
Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
