HMM is seeking a skilled Space Management Analyst to optimize cargo space and vessel utilization, ensuring excellent customer service and cost-effective operations through booking monitoring, cargo control, and collaboration with Commercial, Operational, and Equipment departments to maximize vessel utilization.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Allocation Planning: Develop and implement quarterly cargo space allocation plans for different regions, ensuring optimal distribution and responsiveness to market demands.
Proactive Space Management: Analyze daily laden projections and collaborate with the Equipment department to secure necessary resources and fulfill Booking Space Agreements (BSAs), proactively addressing potential capacity constraints.
Booking Optimization: Actively monitor booking activity, efficiently manage booking queues, and release bookings to maximize vessel utilization and revenue generation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong relationships and open communication channels with teams across the organization, fostering a collaborative environment to achieve shared goals.
Route Optimization: Continuously monitor and analyze route performance, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce transit times, and enhance service reliability.
Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify and implement process improvements and contribute to other related tasks as needed to support the overall success of the space management function.
Required Skills & Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
2+ years of experience in pricing or analytical role in the transportation and logistics industry (ocean carriers, global logistics, or international trade (3PL) preferred.
Essential Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Additional Details:
The pay range listed for this position is the anticipated starting salary or wage range, and the final offered rate will be based on individual merit and the relative compensation of employees in similar positions. HMM employee benefits include highly subsidized individual and family insurance coverage (medical, dental and vision), term life and disability insurance, 401(k) employer matching contributions, paid holidays, and up to 10 vacation days and six sick days in the first year.
