Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance tasks across industrial, agricultural, and facility environments. This role requires the ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems. The technician will support preventative maintenance, equipment repairs, and general facility upkeep to ensure smooth, safe, and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, structural, and plumbing issues.

Maintain and repair control panels, motors, and electrical systems.

Perform preventative maintenance on equipment per manufacturer guidelines.

Complete general building repairs, including patching, painting, door and window repair, and caulking.

Handle basic plumbing tasks such as fixing leaks and replacing filters.

Assist with facility grounds maintenance and organization.

Collaborate with vendors and equipment manufacturers for optimal equipment performance.

Conduct regular facility and equipment inspections.

Support repair and installation of advanced agricultural or production equipment.

Work in environments involving cold, noise, and exposure to chemicals.

Perform physical tasks such as lifting, climbing, standing, bending, and kneeling.

Be available for occasional weekend or holiday work as part of a 24/7 operation.

Skills and Abilities

Proficiency in plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, welding, and mechanical systems.

Skilled in using hand and power tools, reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

Familiarity with occupational safety protocols and ability to recognize hazards.

Experience with HVAC systems, motors, and running wire and conduit.

Capable of documenting work, following preventative maintenance schedules, and using CMMS systems.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Able to work safely in proximity to animals and in agricultural settings.

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.

Qualifications

Required:

High school diploma or GED.

Maintenance certification or equivalent field experience.

3+ years of experience in maintenance or as a mechanical technician.

2+ years working on food manufacturing or industrial equipment.

2+ years working with electrical systems, PLCs, and control panels.

Familiarity with conveyor systems, pumps, gearboxes, and processing machinery.

Working knowledge of CMMS systems and basic computer literacy.

Valid driver's license.

Preferred:

Experience in food production, agriculture, or poultry-related environments.

Knowledge of GMPs, safety protocols (e.g., LOTO, PPE), and regulatory standards.

Experience with feed mill equipment and heavy vehicle repair.

HVAC troubleshooting and repair capabilities.

Welding and fabrication skills.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Must be able to work in various weather conditions.

Regular physical activity including lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, bending, climbing, and standing for long periods.

Exposure to animal environments, outdoor conditions, and processing facilities.
