Accounts Payable Associate
VGM Corporate Accounting
Position Summary
As the AP Associate for VGM Group an individual is responsible for entering weekly accounts payable invoices and transactions received from vendors and sources into the accounting system. You will also be responsible for reviewing all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment. Candidate will be highly detail oriented, have great communication skills and function excellently in a team environment.
Reporting Accountability: Accounts Payable Supervisor
Working Location: Waterloo, Iowa, Hybrid work environment can be explored post training and meeting performance expectations *(work from home not guaranteed)
Work Hours Classification: Monday-Friday 8-5, occasional off-hours may occur when job duties require
Responsibilities/Duties of the Job
Process weekly and adhoc vendor payables batches including various types of payment methods. Mailing signed checks as required
Ensure accurate coding and allocation of items such as expenditure reports, corporate cards, invoices, vouchers and check requests
Ensure accurate coding and entering of invoices for necessary approvals within online routing system
Answering all vendor inquiries and vendor reconciliation
Maintaining all statements, corporate accounts payable files
Assisting Corporate Financial Officers and other personnel
Verifying scanned, cleared checks for storage
Completing filing and document imaging
Meeting productivity standards and completing your work in a timely manner
Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications
Education/Experience:
2-year associates degree in accounting or related field; if no degree held one must have equivalent experience in the accounting/financial field
Skills and competencies:
The ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, as well as gather and analyze information skillfully. Ability to plan, organize, prioritize work activities, and use time efficiently is crucial for this position.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles; competence and ability to review, classify, categorize, prioritize, and/or analyze data and/or information; experience exercising discretion when referencing such analysis to established standards
Basic knowledge of federal and state financial regulations
Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications
Ability to work under tight time schedules and to handle multiple tasks
Ability to foster a professional and team-based working environment
Confidential demeanor to be discreet and respect information privy to the position
Physical Requirements:
Operation of office equipment and using technology efficiently such as computers, phones, misc. office equipment
Visual abilities to include reading, distance vision and peripheral vision
Occasional travel to business-critical meetings or events, rare but on occasion
