What does a successful Sr. Staff DevOps Software Engineer do at Fiserv?
Join Clover’s Merchant Lifecycle and App Market Billing Frameworks team as a Senior Staff DevOps/Software Engineer and be at the center of driving Clover’s global omnicommerce platform. This high-impact team is responsible for powering customer onboarding, data management, regional integrations, and monetization of platform features—directly influencing Clover’s revenue and customer experience. What you will do:
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in our cloud-based service-oriented architecture to keep our platform running smoothly.
Work closely with engineering and business teams to define operational needs, plan realistic timelines, and ensure scalability.
Take ownership of new processes and tools, from development through deployment and production monitoring.
Define and document SLAs as our systems evolve, ensuring reliability and high performance.
Partner with DevOps and Security teams to respond to incidents, implement mitigation strategies, and support business continuity planning.
Support high-quality release management by collaborating across teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Drive continuous process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and system reliability.
Monitor system performance, detect potential issues, and recommend optimizations for scalability and high availability.
What you will need to have:
Bachelor's Degree (preferably Computer Science or Engineering) or equivalent combination of experience, education and military.
10+ years of experience in a Production Operations environment, with at least 3 years in a DevOps lead role.
5+ years of hands-on experience in software development in Java.
Strong proficiency with relational databases and SQL.
Proven experience in API design and implementation.
Solid understanding of Microservices and SOA architectures.
Demonstrated expertise with DevOps tools, pipelines, and CI/CD practices.
Advanced problem-solving and root cause analysis (RCA) skills.
Proficient in Git/GitHub and code review workflows.
What would be great to have:
Experience with Kubernetes administration and configuration.
Familiarity with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
Exposure to Google Pub/Sub, Kafka, or other eventing frameworks.
Working knowledge of Postman, Burp, or Curl for API testing.
Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform or similar cloud environments.
Experience with Airflow or Google Cloud Composer.
Strong knowledge of performance tuning for servers and SQL.
Familiarity with monitoring tools like Grafana or DataDog.
Prior experience in financial services or high-volume transaction systems.

Salary Range$112,700.00 - $201,400.00
These pay ranges apply to employees in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, Rhode Island and Washington. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ. Certain Positions are Commissions eligible.
