Summary of Role:
Leader of a team of production associates building and testing high quality electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies, achieving output, quality and safety targets.
Main Duties:
Deployment of people in support of production targets
Ensuring associates follow work instructions precisely
Performance Development of direct reports - goal setting and performance appraisals
Effective communications and handover to other shifts
Management of people, including other shifts
Leader of large team (typically greater than 15 direct reports)
Management and control of cross-training / training matrix for associates
Chairperson for daily team start-up meeting
Timekeeping and attendance management including holidays
Highlighting and working with HR on disciplinary issues
Timesheet approval
Overtime management and support
5S ownership
Safety ownership
Driver / Leader of process and quality improvements
Setting and managing daily / weekly targets (Lean Mfg, Standard Work)
Kit management / planning - Communications with Planning and Material Control
Working with management to report on performance against targets
Pro-active reporting of equipment downtime
Management of high mix / high changeover / frequently changing priorities
Expediting work through different stages of production to achieve targets
Communications with engineering and QA to solve process problems
Recovery of production downtime issues
WIP Control / Aged WIP / Line-Item Accuracy
Management of defective material
Management of consumables to support production – communications with Material Control
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
SVQ Level 4 in Operational Management or equivalent qualification or a minimum of 2 years prior relevant experience.
IT literate – Microsoft Office skills
Desirable:
Electronics / electro-mechanical production experience
Good persuasion / negotiation skills
Clinical decision making, demonstrating authority
Good organisational and communication skills
A highly effective, disciplined and determined approach
Experience in using SAP / shop floor control systems
