Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for assisting with client accounting, preparing financial statements, supporting tax preparation, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in public accounting and grow within a dynamic CPA office.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain accurate financial records for clients, including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger analysis
Assist in the preparation of individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Conduct bank and account reconciliations
Support senior accountants and CPAs during tax season and audits
Stay current on federal, state, and local tax regulations
Communicate with clients regarding their accounting and tax needs
Use accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and tax preparation tools
Ensure all work complies with firm policies, procedures, and applicable laws
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
1–3 years of experience in public accounting (preferred)
CPA candidate or licensed CPA (preferred, not required)
Proficient in accounting software (QuickBooks, Excel, and tax software)
Strong understanding of GAAP and tax regulations
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
