Position: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Ann Arbor, MI
Pay: $80,000-120,000
Shift: 8am-5pm
Position Summary:
Responsible for the design, manufacturing, and testing of sophisticated and complex sensor systems and supporting equipment. This may include the design and development of rugged mill-spec instruments and systems. Works closely with the mechanical team and detector scientists to create elegant, manufacturable products in a short time. The Product Engineer also supports internal research projects and may support ruggedized military and defense projects. Will be intimately involved in the full product design process - from initial concept all the way through manufacturing and field-testing support.
Position Responsibilities:
· Create Solidworks CAD models and detailed part designs to support prototype and production
· Implement creative solutions to mechanical design problems
· Integrate electronics solutions from our circuits team
· Generate manufacturing drawings for designed parts and assemblies
· Interface directly with suppliers to procure necessary components and assemblies. Resolve any issues related to cost or timing to keep the project on track.
· Assist in prototype assembly, testing, and troubleshooting
· Design, development and test any tooling and/or processes necessary to successfully complete the intended design targets.
· Implement design revisions as a result of assembly & testing issues
· Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
· Verify and validate both product and supporting systems performance.
· Maintain and retain design documentation including all drawings, CAD and testing data.
· Support an organized development process using PDM data management systems.
Position Requirement:
· Bachelor's Degree (BS) from four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering.
· Three (3) or more years of professional experience.
· Ability to create new and interpret existing geometric drawings / models. GD&T Literate.
· Certificates, licenses and registrations required: None. SolidWorks Professional Certs a plus
· Computer skills required: Solidworks and Solidworks PDM; Microsoft Office; Project Management Software
