Senior ServiceNow Developer
Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid – Onsite 3 days per week)
Job Description
We are looking for a Senior ServiceNow Developer to join our team in Washington, DC. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering robust technical solutions and custom applications within the ServiceNow platform. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in software engineering, deep knowledge of ServiceNow’s IT Service Management (ITSM) capabilities, and a solution-driven mindset to align technical outputs with organizational needs. Strong communication and documentation skills are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, configure, and release new application modules, workflows, and catalog items within the ServiceNow platform.
Deliver scalable, maintainable technical solutions that support internal stakeholders and business requirements.
Customize and configure ServiceNow applications, including flow design, administration, reporting, data imports, scripting, and third-party integrations.
Develop integrations and process automations using APIs and data exchange between ServiceNow and other systems.
Maintain and optimize Service Catalog items and Knowledge Base content.
Collaborate with IT Service Management and other business stakeholders to gather requirements and implement best-fit solutions.
Design and maintain integrations using LDAP, SSO, MID server, Web Services, email, and proprietary applications.
Perform system maintenance, including configuration, updates, and routine housekeeping tasks.
Ensure application and data security through structured design and ongoing oversight.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to ServiceNow configuration and performance.
Continuously identify areas for platform improvements and enhancements.
Support Configuration Management Database (CMDB) accuracy by maintaining and validating configuration items (CIs).
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree and 6+ years of experience.
Minimum of 6 years of ServiceNow development experience in an enterprise environment.
Strong expertise in customizing, administering, and configuring ServiceNow applications.
Proficiency with HTML, Angular, and JavaScript.
Experience with Service Catalog, Service Portal, and custom workflows in ServiceNow.
Solid understanding of ITSM processes and the CMDB model within ServiceNow.
Hands-on experience with modules such as Incident, Problem, Change, Service Catalog, and Service Portal.
Proven success integrating ServiceNow with external systems and adapting solutions to complex problems.
Ability to plan resource needs based on high-level requirements.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly convey complex technical concepts in plain language.
