Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Remote Data Visualization Specialist to join our dynamic Analytics team. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming complex healthcare data into clear, compelling, and actionable visual stories. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, clinicians, and business stakeholders to understand their information needs and design intuitive dashboards, reports, and presentations that facilitate data exploration, understanding, and informed decision-making. This is a fully remote position, requiring a self-motivated and highly organized individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
Responsibilities:
Data Interpretation and Storytelling: Understand complex healthcare datasets, identify key trends and patterns, and translate them into visually engaging narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.
Dashboard Development: Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using industry-leading data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), track progress against goals, and provide actionable insights.
Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders across different departments to understand their data visualization needs, gather requirements, and translate them into effective visual solutions.
Data Preparation and Transformation: Work with data engineers and analysts to ensure data quality, perform necessary data cleaning and transformations, and optimize data models for visualization purposes.
Visual Design and Best Practices: Apply principles of visual design, data visualization best practices, and user experience (UX) to create aesthetically pleasing, intuitive, and effective visualizations that adhere to brand guidelines.
Documentation and Training: Create clear and concise documentation for developed dashboards and reports, and provide training and support to end-users on how to effectively utilize these tools.
Staying Current: Continuously research and evaluate new data visualization techniques, tools, and trends to ensure the team is leveraging the most effective approaches.
Collaboration and Communication: Effectively communicate findings, insights, and design rationale to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through presentations and written reports.
Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitor the performance and usability of existing dashboards and reports, identify areas for improvement, and implement optimizations to enhance user experience and data accessibility.
Ad-hoc Analysis and Visualization: Respond to ad-hoc data analysis and visualization requests from various departments in a timely and accurate manner.
Qualifications:
Work Permit/Citizenship: Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit allowing employment in the United States.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Business Analytics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in a data visualization role, preferably within the healthcare industry.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in at least one leading data visualization tool (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker). Strong preference for experience with Tableau.
Experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes and tools (e.g., SQL, Python with Pandas).
Familiarity with database concepts and data warehousing principles.
Understanding of statistical analysis and data modeling concepts.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
Visualization Principles: Strong understanding of data visualization best practices, design principles, and the ability to choose the most appropriate visual representations for different types of data and insights.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data insights in a clear and concise manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate data anomalies and identify root causes.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team in a remote environment.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.
Healthcare Knowledge (Preferred): Familiarity with healthcare data, terminology, and common healthcare metrics is a plus.
