Position Summary: The QC Internal Specialist reports directly to the QC Supervisor related to QC documentation and the performance of daily operations. Team members will execute the daily tracing and monitoring of production activities to ensure food safety and work with other team members to ensure compliance with food safety programs. Making high quality, safe food is the most important thing at Lindley Mills and this role has a hands-on approach to making that happen every day. Interacting with operations and management teams as well as shipping, receiving, sanitation, and other areas will be critical to this role.

Objectives:
1. Ensures that the Food Safety Manual is up to date, compliant with regulations, and is being executed properly at all times. Work with all team members, at all levels.
2. Works with QC Supervisor and all team members to ensure that the facility exceeds the minimum requirements for GFSI (BRC), Organic, and Kosher Certifications.
3. Completes daily and monthly traceability activities (including mock recalls)
4. Conducts routine internal audits and self-inspections to ensure food safety programs are consistently followed.
5. Performs daily record review of food safety and quality records to ensure compliance and recommend corrective actions where indicated.
6. Review of live production, labels, hold tags, and packaging daily.
7. Reviews and executes documentation of Sanitation and Preventative Maintenance programs in coordination with the QC Supervisor
8. Prepares Deviation Reports on non-conforming products and processes including root cause analysis and relevant documentation review. You will get to actually influence and write food safety policies, see their impact, and test the results of your decisions. You will be hands-on in making a difference within day-to-day food safety operations.
9. Assists lab technician and covers duties as needed. Provides backup to QC External Specialist as needed.
Competencies and Education:
1. Bachelor’s Degree required. Food science, or related fields preferred but not required
2. Experience in food service, production, safety, or manufacturing preferred
3. Experience with or certification for HACCP, PCQI, Food Defense Coordinator a plus
4. Experience with organic, Non-GMO, or Kosher, BRC or SQF programs a plus
5. Experience with audit compliance and requirements preferred.
6. Willingness to make phone calls and strong verbal communication skills.
7. Self-motivated working style with proactive thinking required.
8. Ability to work well independently and as part of a team required.
9. Excellent organizational and documentation skills required. Must be detail oriented and have legible handwriting.
10. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
11. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to safely and repeatedly lift at least 25 pounds, stand for long periods, kneel, squat, and bend for short periods to reach all areas of the facility for sanitation and facility review. Must be able to safely ascend a step ladder occasionally for inspections.
