Overview
Position Overview: The Softball Head Coach leads and mentors athletes to develop their skills, prepare for competition, and foster a love for the sport. The coach must be an expert in softball rules, strategies, and techniques while prioritizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership. They are responsible for creating a disciplined, balanced, and supportive environment where athletes grow as players and individuals. Knowledge of safety, physical fitness, and sports equipment is essential.

Qualifications:
High school coaching experience or equivalent club-level experience required.
Strong understanding of softball-specific strategies, skill development, and team management.

Job Description
Vision for the Program
High School Softball: Develop and implement a comprehensive program vision, including alignment with Junior Varsity and Middle School programs.
Roles and Responsibilities
Knowledge
Understand and follow DCSAA, PCSAA, and DCI policies and procedures.
Instruct and demonstrate softball skills and techniques for individual and team success.
Leverage external resources to enhance player development.
Familiarity with NCAA Eligibility Center requirements and college recruiting processes (for high school athletes).
Preparation
Attend all practices and games punctually.
Establish and communicate a program philosophy.
Recruit athletes within DCI and engage students in the sport.
Develop effective practice plans, training programs, and game strategies.
Assist with practice and game setup and teardown.
Review scouting materials and prepare actionable game plans.
Supervision
Participate in hiring and oversee assistant coaches.
Ensure assistant coaches follow policies and procedures.
Take attendance within the first 15 minutes of practices and games.
Enforce discipline policies, emphasizing sportsmanship and a healthy lifestyle.
Supervise athletes during games, locker room activities, and travel to ensure safety and proper behavior.
Travel with the team to and from games and remain with students until all are safely picked up or released.
Administration
Collaborate with the Athletic Director to develop practice and game schedules.
Provide input on uniform, equipment, and supply needs.
Verify all athletes are eligible, insured, and meet requirements before participation.
Maintain accurate, confidential records (e.g., attendance, medical forms).
Enforce rules and regulations for athletic activities and athlete conduct.
Represent the school professionally in interactions with parents, the community, and officials.
Maintain certifications and complete required training.
Ensure all equipment is cleaned, stored, and maintained properly, with updated inventory records.
Register athletes for events as needed.
Maintain safe environments and facilities for practices and games.Company Description
