JOB SUMMARY:

Lead a team of engineering resources dedicated to Vision & Driver Assistance to deliver leading edge technology and innovation to Stoneridge Inc. customers. Responsible for the full lifecycle of (a portfolio) of systems. Lead the (multidisciplinary) group of engineers within the product portfolio.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

System Design and Development

Collect and analyze (sub-)system requirements together with all relevant stakeholders. This includes safety, legal and business requirements. Ensure that safety is at the forefront of decisions and actions.

Translate, together with the owners of the platform and relevant subsystems, the requirements into a system architecture and an implementation plan that meets the quality and cost objectives of the company.

Take into account reuse, modularity and maintainability of the system.

Work closely with a project team consisting of various disciplines (direct and dotted line reporting, matrixed organization) to implement the design according to the requirements.

Responsible for the timely creation of deliverables according to the Stonerdige Product Launch Process.

Analyze test results and implements corrective actions, responsible for structured problem solving during the full lifecycle of the system.

Engineering Leadership

Facilitate the communication and cooperation between the relevant engineering disciplines and other stakeholders.

Identify trends and developments within the field and make improvement proposals.

Organize functions, tools, systems, procedures and processes in such a way that objectives and planning can be achieved, aligned with the global engineering team.

Plan the work to be carried out based on objectives.

Monitors the implementation (qualitative) and progress (quantitative) of the work and group processes and makes adjustments if necessary.

Ensure disciplined and effective process execution utilizing analytics and risk based critical thinking, including specific focus on problem solving and continuous improvement.

Create strong relationships with Business Development/Sales, Product Line Management, Advanced Product Development and Program Management to develop new business, expand and deepen customer relationships, and exceed customer launch expectations.

Propose a year plan / budget and present this to the manager. Budget responsible.

Provide management information and discusses this with the manager.

Ensure that there is sufficient knowledge and skills in the team to carry out the tasks. Instruct, coach and motivate employees in collaboration with the organization’s People function. Carry out the annual performance cycle.

Cultivate a work environment that focuses on positive employee relations, facilitates employee engagement and inspires active participation of all team members.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE:

Bachelor's or masters degree with course of study in Engineering required.

At least ten (10) years Engineering work experience in the automotive industry as a Tier 1 supplier.

Direct experience with design, development, and OEM acceptance of Vision and Driver Assistance products or comparable.

Experience leading engineering teams in globally matrixed work environment.

Experience with electronic controls products; ADAS, Driver Information Systems (DIS), telematics, and / or connectivity, preferred

Demonstrated experience with safety products and functional safety (ISO26262). Knowledge of SOTIF (ISO21448) is preferred.

Demonstrated experience in design, development and launch of new products with best-in-class engineering process and practices including ASPICE, APQP, disciplined problem solving, lean engineering, Six Sigma and value analysis / value added engineering (VAVE)

Experience with development and deployment digital engineering methods, preferred.

Demonstrated success establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with customers

Excellent communication skills to interface with customers at a senior level to discuss complex issues including field performance, engineering processes and other automotive industry demands

Strong background in product reliability and warranty issues. Strong problem solver.

Excellent business sense and judgment by driving decisions that create organizational value and not solely engineering design

Six Sigma and/or Shainin certification highly preferred

Up to 20% travel, includes domestic and international travel
