GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the performance of the quality assurance and quality control inspection of the Company in adherence with regulatory standards. Provide technical support to AVOA operations
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:
Lead the development and execution of Quality Assurance programs and verification activities that ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, government regulations, and industry best practices including cGMP, FSMA, and HACCP.
Perform risk-based assessments on new products, processes, ingredients, and packaging.
Lead, enforce and participate in External, Internal and Supplier Audits.
Responsible for the Recall and Traceability programs for the facility.
Day to day oversight of Quality Assurance and Quality Programs in the facility.
Identify, create, and implement Quality Assurance/Control policies and procedures, forms, work instructions.
Coordinate delivery of COA documents to customers.
Responsible for communication of quality and food safety standards to plant personnel through corrective actions, quality and food safety audits, production monitoring and product evaluations.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to maintain cGMP compliance, improve product quality, production efficiency, and reduce finished product rejects/complaints.
Drive the Material Review Board Meetings
Oversee the Final Review of Batch Records and Release of Finished Product according to Current Standard Operating procedures and GMPs.
Lead and develop staff for succession planning.
Develop and approve Company SOPs for the Quality Management and Quality Control Department.
Comply with Company SOPs and policies.
Work under applicable regulatory guidelines.
Assists, as needed, with FDA or other regulatory inspections.
Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position supervises employees in the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of employees within the department.
Execute performance management to include planning, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating performance of personnel.
Provide training, constructive feedback, and conduct performance reviews to direct reports.
Enforce company policies.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
Ability to read, speak, and write in English.
Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of basic office procedures.
Ability to operate office equipment including copy machine, fax, telephone, PC, and 10-key calculator.
Ability to maintain employee information confidential.
Knowledge of FDA regulations, and ISO standards.
Knowledge of Quality management tools, statistical process control, regression analysis, and statistical sampling methods.
Knowledge of audits and audit procedures.
Detailed knowledge of document and change control processes.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
Stand/remain upright up to 4 hours at a time to perform audits.
Stand/remain upright up to 4 hours at a time to perform audits for up to 4 consecutive days.
Sit up to 4 hours at a time to process paperwork or research regulations.
Use keyboard and computer.
Reach forward and overhead, kneel, twist, turn and bend.
Visual acuity skills, needed to distinguish color, fine lines, and nonconformities in products and materials.
Travel 5-10% of the time to domestic and possibly some international locations for audits and project follow up.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
BS degree in Science, Microbiology, Food Process Engineering, or advance degree in science related field
Minimum of 5-7 years QA management required.
