Domestic Operations Coordinator with Freight Forwarding Experience

Job Description

We are looking for a proactive and highly organized Domestic Coordinator to join our freight forwarding team. This role is key to ensuring the smooth and cost-effective movement of domestic freight while maintaining exceptional service levels to both customers and carriers. The ideal candidate is sharp, service-minded, and understands the balance between profitability and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Coordinate, schedule, and monitor domestic shipments (LTL, FTL, intermodal, and parcel) from pickup to final delivery.

Negotiate rates with carriers while being mindful of margins and overall profitability.

Provide exceptional customer service, acting as the primary point of contact for both clients and carriers.

Track and trace shipments proactively, keeping all parties informed of status and resolving issues in real time.

Prepare accurate documentation including BOLs, shipping labels, and customer instructions.

Maintain accurate records in our TMS and internal systems; ensure all shipment details are properly entered and up to date.

Handle freight claims, service failures, and accessorial disputes professionally and efficiently.

Work closely with the sales and operations team to ensure customers receive timely updates, competitive pricing, and reliable service.

Qualifications:

1–3 years of experience in domestic freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation coordination.

Strong skills in rate negotiation and margin awareness, with a service-first mindset.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable working with both customers and carrier reps.

Experience with TMS software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).

Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Knowledge of freight classes, accessorial charges, and carrier requirements preferred.
