Position Overview:

Assists the Health and Nutrition Program Manager in implementing the health services component of the Head Start program.

Where will I be working?

Central Office

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Disseminates necessary health information to staff and parents as requested.

Conducts vision and hearing screenings as well as height and weight health assessments and is responsible for the documentation and organization of data.

Assists with arranging screening processes and being involved as needed for recruitment and enrollment activities.

Provides health education information and follow-up with parents after screening processes.

Records chart information for child’s file.

Assists in setting up and providing training for staff and/or parents.

Provides health, nutrition and or physical fitness lessons in classrooms

Required Education and Experience:

State of Michigan Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required. Certification (or willingness to obtain certification) to conduct vision and hearing testing for children.

Two years’ experience working or volunteering with children in a school or pediatric health setting. Experience conducting screenings, collection of documentation, and organizing health information preferred.
