Job Description
CNC Operator role :
Operates CNC Lathe/Mill to manufacture components and finished goods to the customers specification.
OUTPUTS
Working from engineering blueprints, machines parts to very close tolerances and specified finishes.
Performs all required inspections and filling out inspection sheets.
Must be able to adjust offsets on the machine and change inserts and tools as needed.
Conduct and verify minimal machine maintenance has been done on equipment prior to use (fluid levels, filters, cleaning)
Operates drill presses, punch presses, or riveting machines to assist in assembly or finishing operation.
Performs any operations that are required per the process sheet, such as painting.
Disassembles or assembles to salvage or repair various parts
Performs all duties of Material Handler or Laborer.
Maintains material identification.
QUANTITATIVE REQUIREMENTS
2+ years working in a similar capacity
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Experience operating a CNC Machine
Ability to work independently
Good attention to detail
Good Math skills
Must be able to use a computer (E.R.P, Microsoft Excel)
Must be able to read and write English
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
2nd Shift 4pm-12:30am (with overtime up to 2:30 am)
PROGRAMMER ROLE
BASIC FUNCTION
This position is responsible for supporting the CNC machining department with the development of new part programs as well as providing support and optimization on existing products. Also, this position will be directly involved with the development and implementation of a setup reduction program and overall department improvement plan.
OUTPUTS
Generate CAD drawings using Solidworks and G-code CNC programs using Mastercam.
Operate CNC lathes and milling machines to produce engineering samples
Conduct / assist with machine setups
Generate work holding designs and drawings
Assist with root cause analysis on machining failures
Use measurement equipment (bore, height & thread gages, calipers, micrometers and optical comparator)
Determine required in-process quality checks
Provide training to machine operators on setup and production processes
Generate and document work instructions, setup procedures and inspection sheets
Support Management with special testing / projects
Monitor ongoing quality levels of machined products to proactively identify opportunities for improvement (Cost of Quality, Cycle Time Reductions, Tool Cost etc.)
QUANTITATIVE REQUIREMENTS
Proficiency with Mastercam
Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Understanding of basic algebra and trigonometry
Microsoft Office Suite (Word / Excel)
Minimum 3 years related experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Extensive experience with CAD/CAM, fixturing, CNC programming, setup, and the efficient operation of VMCs, HMCs, and CNC Lathes
Experienced with the fixturing and machining of castings and welded fabrications
Must be a self-starter, comfortable working in a team environment
Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, adhering to strict deadlines and commitments
A creative thinker with the ability to raise the bar in CNC machining
Ability to correspond effectively with co-workers, customers, and vendors
Ability to effectively present information (orally and in writing) to top management, customers, and vendors
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables
