Purpose:
Support the Program Director with client and program related tasks while overseeing the day-to-day operation of specific programs or projects within the organization.
Responsibilities:
Programs
Facilitates planning and executing one-day programs
Assists with coordinating clients, horses and instructors for sessions
Assists with development of current and new programs
Assists with launching new and maintaining existing community programs and partnerships
Helps facilitate continuing education for instructors and therapists
Supports instructors and therapists as needed
Maintains appropriate records for clients and sessions
Coordinates collecting and organizing program statistics
Assists with accreditation and maintenance of PATH Int’l Standards
Assists with learning and educating team on new and existing technology
Support the volunteer coordinator with weekend volunteer needs
Clients
Updates clients and client families regarding registration announcements
Updates clients and client families regarding session scheduling and conflicts
Plans and executes annual horse show for clients
Manages the client waitlist and communicates with clients when slots are available
Facilitates Open House tours for prospective clients
Assists with initial client evaluations and registration process
Instruction
Safely and professionally conducts private, semi-private, and group horseback riding lessons
Works as part of a team to deliver excellence in instruction and celebrates progress and independence of clients
Always ensures that horses are treated in a kind and humane manner that promotes optimal physical and psychological well-being
Ensures correct tack fit and placement
Mindful of the safety of all equines and people for the duration of the session
Prepares appropriate lesson plans based on client riding skills, social level, and amount of volunteer support
Completes weekly progress notes for each client
Maintains all records such as timesheets, horse usage, incident reports, etc.
Communicates effectively with staff and volunteers regarding any needs for lessons
Adherences to all PATH Standards and Cloverleaf’s policies and procedures
Maintains PATH CTRI certification and completes required continuing education
Maintains First-Aid/ CPR certification
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Required Skills
Ability to interface, engage and motivate diverse volunteer and client groups
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the highest level of professionalism
Strong computer skills (MS Office, spreadsheets, database, et al)
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
Ability to work in a team environment
High attention to detail
Adaptable and flexible in a busy environment
Strong horsemanship and riding skills
Able to lift 50 pounds
Able to bend, twist, and lift to facilitate rider mounts and dismounts
Able to stand for 3+ hours
Able to work in all weather conditions
Desired Skills
PATH Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor preferred
Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: Founded in 1980, Cloverleaf Equine Center’s mission is to help each individual reach their highest potential by providing equine-assisted services to people with disabilities, youth from marginalized communities, recovering military personnel, and others in need in an inclusive, community setting. Cloverleaf owns and operates its 17-acre O’Shaughnessy Farm in Clifton, VA, and has a $1.4 million operating budget. The team includes 17 horses, 26 full and part-time employees, and over 100 weekly volunteers, who together serve over 110 weekly clients.
