Duties and Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned nonprofit clients, offering expert financial advice and guidance to support their organizational objectives
Conduct comprehensive financial assessments, analyzing budgets, cash flow, grant management, and financial statements to identify areas for improvement and efficiency
Collaborate with clients to develop comprehensive budgets and financial forecasts aligned with their long-term goals and objectives
Oversee and support the preparation and delivery of accurate, timely financial reports and presentations to key stakeholders, including finance committees and boards of directors
Provide insights and recommendations based on key financial metrics, industry trends, and nonprofit best practices
Ensure client compliance with all relevant financial regulations, reporting requirements, and funding sources (e.g. federal, state, and local government grants)
Assess and mitigate financial risks for clients by implementing effective strategies to safeguard their financial assets and investments
Serve as subject matter expert and advisor on all client-related accounting and financial matters, including, but not limited to, the Code of Federal Regulations, indirect cost rates, allocation methodologies, and accounting standard updates (ASUs)
Foster strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders at each client organization, serving as a trusted advisor and advocate
Address client concerns and ensure timely resolution of issues
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting (Master's Degree preferred)
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
10+ years of experience in the nonprofit industry
10+ years of senior accounting experience (Director of Finance/Controller/CFO/Chief Accounting Officer)
Extensive federal and state grant administration/management experience
Advanced knowledge of industry-specific accounting software and advanced Excel skills
Proven ability to prioritize tasks and excellent interpersonal skills
Strong business acumen and ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders and C-level executives
Experience in people management and leading high-performance teams, creating and implementing processes and efficiencies
Work experience in consulting and/or business process outsourcing (BPO)
Full-time
