Position Description:

The main objective of a Quality Engineer is to drive a culture of quality within the organization, to improve product quality, and to act as a “hands-on” lead person responsible for spearheading quality initiatives within our manufacturing sites. The focus will be on developing and implementing new and improved inspection techniques on multiple production stages and collaborating with sales, engineering, manufacturing, other quality members, and customers to investigate and address complaints, defective products, and quality problems to ensure that products meet predefined standards and/or exceed the customer expectations. The candidate we seek has a proactive mindset, is respectful of others, and has a positive attitude Requirements:

Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures.

Daily 'hands-on' inspection layout responsibilities to assist with in-process, receiving, and final inspection

Communicates with employees to ensure that job functions are carried out for quality.

Coordinating and communicating activities within Quality Assurance, as well as with other functional departments to meet customer on-time-delivery requirements.

Customer-facing responsibilities which include non-conformance review, driving root cause analysis, and documenting corrective actions

Analyze complaint data to identify hidden trends and initiate corresponding corrective actions

Evaluate and approve raw material, in-process production, and finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual, and measurement verifications and tests; communicating rejection issues per LayerZero procedures

Become a resident expert on all aspects of gaging, including gage selection, procurement, calibration, maintenance, and training of operators/inspectors in how to use gages/equipment

Participate in the development of Control/Inspection Plans, SOPs, and Work Instructions

Assist in the development of the quality management system and support the company’s initiative to obtain ISO9001 certification

Perform audits, internal and at the supplier level, as required

Assist in identifying & driving continuous improvement opportunities

Qualifications:

Degree w/2 years’ experience, OR 5 years quality-related experience

Knowledge of Six Sigma tools

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, and drawings, and follow directions

Exceptional attention to detail and organization skills with the ability to perform multiple tasks and obtain results working within strict time frames

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; pivot tables, statistical trending, data analysis, etc.

Demonstrated analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Must be able to lift and handle heavy parts up to 30 lbs.

Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, or climb a stepladder while working.

Must have good vision to inspect parts and assemblies

Education:

BS Degree in Engineering (electrical/electronic preferred) with 2 years of experience; OR five (5) years of quality-related experience and/or training

US Citizenship or C1 Permanent Resident Alien status
