Position Title: Computational Chemistry/Toxicology Scientist

Locations: 9330 Zionsville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46268

Anticipated Start Date: 05/05

Expected Duration: 12 Months

Job Type: Contract with possible extension

Pay Rate $57.00/hr. on W2

Need: Ph.D. in a relevant field with 3+ years' experience in AI-driven cheminformatics or bioinformatics for structure-based design, toxicology, or mechanism prediction.

Job description:

Client is seeking a Computational Scientist Contractor with specialized expertise in Cheminformatics and/or Bioinformatics to join our Predictive Safety Center within Regulatory Science. This exciting and challenging role will support the discovery, development, and registration of novel crop protection products by designing and implementing advanced machine learning models to evaluate the safety profiles of chemicals.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and apply structure-based predictive models to assess the safety profiles of early-stage discovery molecules.

Investigate potential mechanisms of toxicity through ligand-protein binding analysis, including protein structure alignment, binding pocket evaluation, and molecular docking.

Collaborate with internal and external cross-functional teams to deploy in silico models that address key business needs.

Serve as a subject matter expert on in silico modeling, providing strategic guidance across R&D sub-functions.

Communicate the development and application of cheminformatics and bioinformatics approaches through internal presentations and at external scientific conferences.

Stay current with emerging scientific advancements in machine learning, cheminformatics, bioinformatics, and related fields; identify innovative technologies for internal application.

Analyze complex datasets using machine learning techniques and provide actionable insights to support data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Cheminformatics, Computational Chemistry, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Toxicology, or a closely related field.

Minimum of 3 years of experience developing machine learning models and applying AI-driven cheminformatics or bioinformatics for structure-based design, toxicology assessment, or mechanism prediction.

Strong foundation in machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling, with a proven track record of analyzing complex datasets involving chemical structures and toxicity endpoints.

Proficient in Python programming and experienced with relevant machine learning libraries.

Solid knowledge of toxicology, chemistry, chemical structure analysis, QSAR, and protein structure.

Experience with omics data analysis and systems biology is a plus.

Demonstrated ability to lead projects and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, managing multiple timelines and priorities.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholder audiences.Company Description
