Job Description:

GDIT is supporting Department of the Homeland Security (DHS) software development and application enhancements. GDIT is excited to offer you a unique opportunity to join an Agile Team utilizing CI/CD pipeline to support one of our nation’s most critical homeland missions.
GDIT is seeking a highly motivated security engineer to join our growing team to develop, support, and modernize mission-critical applications for our DHS customer. The successful candidate will help to develop, deploy, and maintain mission-critical applications. You will also provide support and technical advice during conceptualization, development, and implementation phases to transform requirements to working solutions. This includes involvement with users to define system scope and objectives, as well as contributing to design decisions.
US Citizenship required. Candidate must be local to the Virginia office.
HOW A SYSTEMS ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Analyze security systems and seek improvements on a continuous basis
Report possible threats or software issues
Ability to implement cost-effective solutions to cybersecurity problems
Understand software and hardware implementation in datacenter and cloud environments
Develop best practices and security standards for the organization
Test application software and patches
Assist fellow employees with cybersecurity, software, hardware or IT needs
Scrum/agile project lifecycle approach to resolving vulnerabilities
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Required Skills / Qualifications:
U.S. Citizenship
DHS HQ EOD required to start; must be able to obtain DHS HQ Final Suitability
Bachelors degree or equivalent and 10+ years of security experience
Experience / basic understanding of Java programming language
Experience deploying and monitoring web applications in AWS
Experience with secure development, coding, and engineering practices
Knowledge with end-to-end fully-automated CI/CD pipelines, from code commits to production
Experience with build automation CM tools
Experience in Jira to support DevOps implementation in an Agile environment
Experience in Agile methodology
Location Hybrid
Desired Skills / Qualifications:
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
Excellent communication skills
Certifications such as CISSP, GSEC, CEH or CISM desired
An understanding of best practices and how to implement them at a business-wide levels
Familiar with Ansible Tower
Familiar with Redshift and AWS
Experience with DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, Maven
Experience with Jira to support configuration management in an Agile environment

The likely salary range for this position is $121,680 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
