Job Purpose
The Import Purchasing department’s goal is to achieve the highest level of customer satisfaction through the supply of replacement parts to our domestic and export dealers. The Assistant Manager, Import Purchasing will strive to maintain optimum service and inventory levels through accurate forecasting, efficient ordering practices, supplier and supply chain management activities.
Key Accountabilities
Inventory Segmentation – Analysis of part demand, cost, customer and other characteristics to develop recommended inventory and service level to achieve Divisional objectives. This includes related projects as assigned.
Ordering Systems - Contribute toward on-going recommendations to enhance processes for improved efficiency
Supplier Negotiations - Work with suppliers to develop procurement/purchasing activities favorable to American Honda, which include Back Order and Critical Back Order reductions and improved on-time delivery
Status Reporting - Prepare management status reports for projects: problem analysis, alternatives, recommended solutions, timeline for implementation, results vs. expectation (PDCA and CapDo)
Provide leadership, training and development to associates & contingent staff
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, mathematics or equivalent preferred or equivalent work-related experience
Some experience in supply chain, working knowledge of inventory control, forecasting, supply chain, preferred
Minimum 6 years of experience in inventory control, demand forecasting, purchasing, procurement, supplier performance or relevant education
Proficient in PDCA and CAPDo analysis
Advanced math, statistical, inventory, forecasting skills and knowledge
Strong computer skills including MS Office and data mining knowledge
Skilled at preparing and presenting detailed project plans to all levels of internal/external audiences
People management skills
Analytical thinking capabilities (problem solving) with excellent communications skill
